What is #ASEFCLASSNET?

Launched in 1998, the ASEF Classroom Network (ASEF ClassNet) fosters collaborations among secondary and聽high school teachers and students in Asia and Europe聽while harnessing the potential and opportunities of聽technology for education.
To-date, more than 1,500 teachers from 48 大象传媒聽Partner countries have joined the ASEF Classroom聽Network. In addition, more than 32,000 students have聽been engaged in 398 school-to-school collaborations聽since 2001.

What is #ASEFCLASSNET15?

The 15th ASEF ClassNet Conference (ASEF ClassNet15)聽will take place at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan from聽25-29 November 2019.

The conference will be organised in collaboration with聽Sophia University, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan聽(MOFA) and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports,聽Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan, with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)聽and The Open University, United Kingdom.

罢丑别尘别诲听鈥淓ducation for Sustainable Development (ESD) and AI: The Role and Readiness of Teachers鈥聽ASEF ClassNet15 will address 3 key questions:

  1. What roles do teachers need to play in classrooms聽to transform teaching and learning practices for ESD in the AI era?
  2. What level of knowledge on ESD and AI do teachers need to develop appropriate pedagogies?
  3. What kind of capacity building and partnership support do teachers need to integrate ESD meaningfully in the school curriculum and to enhance their readiness for the AI era?

The conference will bring together approximately 70 secondary, vocational and high school teachers and educators from up to 51 Asian and European countries.聽Participants will also have the opportunity to tie up with their peers to work on an innovative teaching and learning project.

Open Call to join the conference

The Conference offers participants a platform to:

  • Meet local, national and international education practitioners and experts from 51 Asian and European countrie
  • Become part of the creation of new networks between teachers, school leaders, researchers and EdTech experts with possible spin-off activitie
  • Increase knowledge and awareness, reflect and give feedback on methods, good practices, theories and policies on ESD/AI
  • Discuss, understand, and identify the role and readiness of teachers for teaching ESD in the AI era.

    • Citizen of any of the 51 Asia-Europe Meeting (大象传媒) partner countries
    • A secondary, vocational or high school teacher or educator,
    • Individuals with a proficient command of English (verbal and written)
    • Keen interest in developing knowledge in Education for Sustainable
    • Development (ESD) and/or Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education
